THE BRAND
Founded in 1996; the Vienna-based label, MICHEL MAYER, stands for innovative, conceptual, and timeless fashion. Michaela Mayer-Lee, the founder, has been exploring the interaction between the human body and design for many years, resulting in numerous collections and collaborations. Her unique approach to design has been sucessfully showcased in international festivals, exhibitions, and shows in the fields of fashion, art, and design. Aside from developing her own collections and numerous collaborations with international brands, she has created costumes for dance festivals and theater. Since 2021, she has been working on costumes for the film industry together with Monica Ferrari-Krieger.

The fashion label, MICHEL MAYER, conveys the ability to distill the essential to be a luxury. Simple and abstract forms are brought into harmonious relationships with the human body. Fundamental to the design process are draping techniques which become visible in new shapes and lines. Aside from the ready-to-wear, there is also an annual couture collection, and a basic bridal collection, available at NIELY HÖTSCH. Since 2014 Monica Ferrari-Krieger, originally from Switzerland, joined the Michel Mayer team. As a freelance designer, she is specialized in pattern making and developing prototypes.

STORE
In 2001, the first MICHEL MAYER shop opened in the heart of Vienna, in a beautiful and historic building from the 17th century, located in the first district, in one of the oldest parts of Vienna. The historic and elegant space with high ceilings and arches gives you an idea of a time when there were still horse- drawn carriages going through this space. The interconnected space connecting the shop with the studio allows for a constant flow of people, design, and activity. The aim of the brand is clear: to create and produce unique, versatile, yet timeless clothes, that embody the highest quality and standard of design. This can only be guaranteed by having the design and production process in one house.
